Think Like Buddha

Inspiration: Positive Thoughts

When  I was attending the Center for Conscious Living I learned to say what I wanted as if it had already happened. For example, “I am buying a wonderful home at XYZ St, Certain City, FL. It is a perfect home for me.” That’s also what they teach Olympic athletes.

Design Inspiration from Glorious Nature

A green, black and yellow milkweed-chomping caterpillar-turned-chrysalis produced a butterfly today. It’s a boy! You can tell because the outer wings of a male butterfly bear black dots, which he has. Butterfly design adds such beauty and richness to nature. Nature soothes and brings our focus to the breathtaking colors,

Back to Blogging!

Yes, I’ve been very busy again. My Mom turned 100 so my family and I had two birthday parties, one at my home and one in a private movie theater. Thank you to my daughter Mary for organizing this event. Wow, it’s tough to get a woman who is healthy and strong but stubborn into a car on a mystery journey to downtown St.

My Latest Inspiration

InspiredI’ve  found a passion that’s consumed much of my summer and Florida fall. It all started with a Mom’s Day gift from my son, Michael. He loves the outdoors like his grandfather, my Dad did. As a little girl I would follow Dad around our big yard as he cared for his roses,

St. Petersburg: Bay and Banyans

I took a walk in Straub Park this past August Sunday. The City of St. Petersburg is so beautiful and alive. At Peace

At PeaceHere is my latest painting. It’s an acrylic and measures 16″ x 20″. I am happy with it because it brings me peace. But my narrative today is about the frame. On Saturdays my mother’s VA caregiver visits with her, gives her a shower, washes her hair,

Rosagena

Here is another example of “found art”.

This block of maple sanded wood came from Dick Blick art supplies when I ordered some painting supplies. I decided to paint a path of trees with beautiful white lights adorning each tree. It was to be a night scene, festive and colorful.

Fine Crafts

I love crafting. Few several years I was obsessed with making cool things out of natural materials. Examples: hard shelled gourds – wood burned and stained or painted with tops woven from pines needles, jasmine vines, and leaves bonded to the gourds with waxed linen. And rainsticks from all sizes of bamboo.

Changes…

Yes, I keep changing my artwork.

Here is my original peacock. Perhaps you like it better than the next incarnation. That’s OK. I needed to paint through a challenging time in my life. I was “low energy” so it was easier to mess with this perfectly fine bird rather than buy and prep some more canvas.

Using Color

Peacock in a Rainbow Eucalyptic Tree

Did you ever paint a really nice piece of artwork but the background is just wrong? This is what I faced as I worked on this colorful handsome peacock painting. The original background was Golden Magenta mixed with Titanium White. In other words, it was a rich pink.
